Currently, the Universidad Nacional del Nordeste has a Network of Libraries that consists of a Central Library and all the Libraries of UNNE Faculties and Institutes. The geographical configuration of the University, whose academic and administrative headquarters are in the provinces of Corrientes and Chaco and in different campuses, led to ponder on the development of this project based on the application of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), as a means to solving such fragmentation and guaranteeing service to library users.
The UNNE Library Network unifies criteria for the standardization of the loading of new registries, encourages the training and education of its agents and collaborative work, and has technical personnel in charge of providing infrastructure support and technical advice to all the members of the network.
General Directorate of Libraries
The General Directorate of Libraries (DGB)(GDL) of the Universidad Nacional del Nordeste (UNNE) is a functional unit under the General Academic Secretary of the University, which currently integrates a general directorate and two directorates with their respective departments. Likewise, The General Directorate of Libraries is in charge of the administrative and technical coordination of the processes and the library services of the University and its Library Network.
Its mission is to act as an auxiliary body of research, education, and professional and cultural training of students, teaching and research personnel, and as an instrument of the University actions and its area of influence, in the various scientific, professional and economic media linked to its disciplines.
For this reason, it needs to be at the forefront of information and communication technologies, making the most of it, in order to optimize its services and establish a space for the development of knowledge, where information for the user is a resource of the highest value.
