The Continuous Teacher Training Program has its origin in 1998, when it was created as one of the lines of the Curriculum Change Program, to revalue the teaching role, resizing the place in the set of functions of the university institution, and create conditions to specify in the classroom what is projected in the new curriculums. (Res. No. 690 / 98-C.S).
In 2003, the second stage of the program began with the aim of implementing teacher training as a continuous institutional strategy, through different kinds of actions, purpose, duration, and number of recipients. All this to create a program aimed at improving university teaching practices in the complexity of their roles and functions. (Res. 304/03 C.S.)
The Third Stage of the Program began in 2010 with the purpose of Strengthening the Continuous Teacher Training Program, through the implementation of various permanent and non-permanent teacher training actions addressing general and specific training, aimed at improvement of university teaching practices, taking into account the complexity of roles and functions that cross it. (Res. 514/10 C.S.) The modality that was implemented on that occasion was to present the different offers at the beginning of the academic year so that each teacher chooses the courses according to their times and interests.
In all the aforementioned stages, in addition to the Postgraduate Courses, Communication of Innovative Pedagogical Experiences have been organized and carried out, which have brought together a significant number of teachers from different Academic Units of our University. In them, reports were presented that account for the teaching practices in progress in the university classroom as well as experiences referring to the new demands and scenarios that cross the university system.
The year 2012 began with the same modality, offering 12 postgraduate courses and the release of the book that will compile the work of the IV Conference on Communication of Innovative Pedagogical Experiences. (Res. 961/11 C.S.)
Currently, the Program offers postgraduate courses and seminars that contribute to the permanent training of teachers around the following thematic areas:
- Strengthening of teacher training and academic management: Implementation of training actions, aimed at improving university teaching practices, addressing topics related to teaching and assessment strategies at the university that enable contextualized interventions, tutorial action committed to strengthening student careers in terms of access, permanence and graduation from university, data management for decision-making and strategic planning, the key to management.
